To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams School has started two weeks back.. im now into third week of school. well..it still seems quite relax but i guess things are starting to pile up. Projects deadline is always around the corner. Had a presentation today, haha.. did a video clip to capture attention of the class.. and We succeeded!! Want to thank God for such a good timetable. It isn't as taxing as i thot it was. Praise God! But i guess there's quite a lot of thoughts going thru my mind now... school..friends..etc..God has given me new friends, new working project mates and all.. I do hope i can help them along too :D
Today i was just reading 1 Samuel 15 and i pondered over the passage for quite a moment, thinking if i am like Saul? Saul obeyed a good chunk of what God was asking of him, and even saved the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to God. However, though this may have looked good, it was not what the Lord required. Saul, in only partly obeying the Lord’s commands, was actually disobeying God. The driving force behind this disobedience was his arrogance (v23). Saul confesses that he kept the cattle and sheep to please his troops (v24). Saul had placed his own desire to be respected and adored by his people above his desire to respect God. He even had a monument set up in his own honour (v12), though the victory had far more to do with God’s strength than Saul’s brilliance.
Are we really any more devoted to God than Saul was?
What motivates us more strongly in our lives: pleasing people, seeking recognition and looking out for number one, or obeying and glorifying God? It is easy to give the appearance of doing the latter while actually doing the former. To express love for God in speech and song can be fairly easy when compared with expressing our love for God in obedience to his commands. But obedience is the type of sacrifice that touches God’s heart with pleasure.
It's so important to reflect and look into our lives. To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. My thoughts overflows.........
